Specific Admission Requirements |
The candidate must have an ALES score of at least 55 points. In the evaluations, 60% of the candidates' ALES score, 30% of the undergraduate graduation degree, and 10% of the interview scores are considered to rank the candidates. Those who meet the relevant conditions within the determined quota and enter this quota are considered successful and accepted to the program. |

Students who complete undergraduate program of History and History Teaching are accepted to master program of History Department. |

In order to get master degree of History Department, students must complete their compulsory and optional courses, give a seminar study and present a thesis about their fields. |
Profile of The Programme |
The aim is to make people evaluate both the societies which have been composed by coming together of people and its political, military, cultural and economic situations with other societies and their effects on each other objectively in various aspects according to methods of history. By making them see this historical process scientifically and make cohesive calculations in itself, the aim is to bring them to the level to the need of modern age It is to grow our students as having program ability through general targets and make them have a modern historian identity. Our students who have this identity can grow individuals who are dependent on Ataturk’s principles and reforms can take charge in educational intuitions and they can be evaluated as a impartial historian |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
The graduates can work as academician in the fields of History and other Social Sciences in (state and private) universities and as expert at Public Record Office. They can participate in various projects about their fields. Also, the graduates who get initial teacher training can work as teacher at Ministry of National Education and in private institutes (private schools). |

Those who complete the master program of History department can apply to doctorate program providing the appropriate conditions. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
In postgraduate programs, it is mandatory to attend at least 70% of any course taken during the semester. Success is measured by intra-year success measurement (assignments, midterm exams) and end-of-year exams. Exams are held in various types, such as written, oral, or both written and oral and/or applied. At least one midterm exam is held for each course. Detailed explanations on measuring and evaluating course success are provided on the Course Information Package page. Exams are evaluated with points given out of 100. Success grade is calculated by taking 30% of the midterm exam grade average and 70% of the end-of-term or make-up exams. Success grade in thesis and non-thesis master's programs is at least 65 points out of 100. G (Pass) ensures successful completion of the specialization course, seminar, and thesis study. D (Non-Attendance) is used in case of failure to meet the attendance requirements of the course. It is evaluated as an FF grade. K (Fail) is used for non-credit courses, specialization courses, seminars, and thesis work failures. S (Work in Progress) is the grade for work in progress. When the job is completed, it turns into a K or G grade. Courses that are graded with a success grade (G) or (K) are not taken into consideration in the calculation of the grade point average. |
Graduation Requirements |
The thesis master's program consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course, and a thesis study, with a total of at least twenty-one credits. The seminar course and thesis study are non-credit and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The thesis master's program consists of at least eight classes, including the seminar course, with at least 120 ECTS credits, at least 60 ECTS credits per academic year, and the thesis study. The student must register for the thesis period each semester, starting from the term following the advisor's assignment at the latest.
Provided that the student is successful in the thesis exam and meets the other conditions required for graduation determined by the institute, the thesis master's diploma is given to the graduate student who submits at least three bound copies of the thesis to the relevant institute within one month from the thesis exam date and whose thesis is found appropriate in terms of form. The institute's board of directors may extend the delivery period for one month upon request. Students who do not meet these conditions cannot receive their diplomas until they meet them, cannot benefit from student rights, and will be dismissed if the maximum period expires. The thesis-based master's diploma includes the name of the institute's department/main art branch in which the student is registered and approved by the Council of Higher Education. The graduation date is when the examination jury committee submits the signed thesis copy. The Senate determines the procedures regarding diplomas. |
