Department of Accounting and Tax Applications started education under the name of “Accounting Department” in 1992-1993 Academic Year within the body of Bayburt Vocational School of Higher Education founded in 12th of December, 1990 by the decision of the Ataturk University Senate. It has continuied education within the body of Bayburt University since 2009-2010 academic year after it was founded in 2008. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
Students are admitted through an exam based on Transition to Higher Education Exam (YGS). The exam is held once a year by Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM).Applicants can attend HigherEducation with a score formed by the combination of the score they get from YGS and their secondary education composite score.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
Students enrolling to our university may request to be exempted from the courses they
succeeded in previous higher education institutions they attended. To do so, they have to
hand over their academic record and course contents with a petition to the concerned unit
during the first week of the academic year they enrolled to university. |

People who want to serve in Accounting and Tax Applications field must have a strong
sense of responsibility and memory, be successful in Mathematics and Dialectic and must
be able to work carefully on details for long period of time. Having the students gain
managing skills, this department forms a basis for students graduating to serve for private
businesses and institutions as such. |
Profile of The Programme |
The purpose of the programme is to train intermediate staff for accounting field. During their
training period students gain knowledge and skills in accountancy and tax field. Students
completing the programme acquire an associate’s degree. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
Students graduating from Accounting and Tax Aplplications are employed in accountancy
and finance departments of government or private businesses according to their proficiency.
On one hand they may serve for Independent Accountants and Financial Advisors or
Certified Public Practitioners. On the other hand, they may take the exam of Independent
Accountant and Financial Advisors Association and then become an Independent
Accountant and Financial Advisor if they complete a bachelor’s degree and a three-year
training period. |
Access to Further Studies |
After acquiring associate’s degree, students can continue their education in faculties that
provide undergraduate education if they succeed in DGS. Students may do open admission
to Open Education Faculty (AOF). The undergraduate departments that may be passed to
by means of DGS are to be understood as;

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
While calculating the final grade of students, exams are assessed as written or oral, as
homeworks, projects or laboratory studies according to the quality of the course. In the final
assessment, the contribution a mid-term examination and/or other studies standing for the
mid-term examination is 40 percent while the contribution of the final examination is 60
percent. Research projects related to the students’ fields are carried out under the
supervision of instructors for their development. For excuse examination, students must
hand over their excuse form with a petition to the concerned unit until the end of the shift of
the first weekday following the end of the examination period. |
Graduation Requirements |
Within the period specified in the related regulations, students have to take all the courses
necessary for graduation, complete the programme they attend with a minimum gpa of 2,00
on condition that they succeed all the courses taken and complete a training of 40
weekdays. The student graduates by completing 120 AKTS/ECTS credits and acquires an
Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Tax Applications Programme.
1-Graduated, the students are given a diploma enclosure including the courses and
modules showing the proficiencies they got during their education.2- If the students quit
without completing the programme, a document showing the proficiencies, courses and
modules taken during their education is given.3- Professional skills gained in the
programme are utilized in developing professional careers, certificate programmes and
transition to other programmes if required. |

The students attending Accounting and Tax Applications study up-to-date developments and
gain mastery of accounting softwares necessarily used in offices. They also acquire skills to
provide solutions to juristicial problems encountered in Accounting Departments. |
