| Level of Course Unit | Third Cycle | Objectives of the Course | The main aim of the course is to have information about the general structures and properties of hormones, classification according to their chemical structures, functions, biosynthesis and degradation, molecular action mechanisms, hormone receptors and molecular signal transmission mechanisms that play a role in their activation. In addition, to understand the clinical importance of hypothalamus, pituitary hormones, pancreatic hormones, adrenal hormones, gonads and steroid hormones and gastrointestinal hormones in physiological and pathological processes and to enable students to have knowledge about hormone determination methods, to gain a command of the literature by using this information and to prepare lectures, seminars, and articles. To gain research planning and preparation skills. | Name of Lecturer(s) | Doç. Dr. Bülent BAYRAKTAR | Learning Outcomes | 1 | Will be able to explain the endocrine system and hormone definition, the classification of hormones, their functions and molecular mechanisms of action. | 2 | Will be able to explain hormone biosynthesis, regulation and degradation, Hormone receptors and molecular signal transduction mechanisms involved in their activation. | 3 | Will be able to explain the formation mechanisms of diseases related to hormonal disorders. | 4 | Define hormone determination methods and list their functions. | 5 | Will be able to explain the molecular signal transduction mechanisms that play a role in hormone receptors and their activation. |
