Objectives of the Course
Climate change, one of the most important problems of the 21st century, causes many economic, social, political and legal problems both nationally and internationally. The aim of this course is; To examine the problems created by the actions of states that cause climate change in terms of international law, the rules of international law that states must comply with in order to combat the problems caused by climate change, and the obligations of states in this context.

Learning Outcomes
1Gain knowledge about the conceptual theoretical framework of climate change, its historical process, its effects at local, regional and international levels, its causes, its consequences, the problems it raises in terms of international law and the studies carried out on this subject.
2Realisez the difference between principled and legal approaches to climate issues and climate policies at the international level before and after the United Nations Climate Change Convention.
3Understand the role and importance of regional and international organizations and the conferences and agreements held under their leadership in the emergence of the international climate regime and the change in the understanding of responsibility of states in international law
4Learns those responsible for preventing climate change problems and protecting climate systems, the structures and intervention tools created for this purpose, and develops the information infrastructure on these issues,role and place of international organizations in environmental law, legislation.
5Using the knowledge gained on climate change-related agreements, international states and environmental law, legislation, practices, legal and criminal sanctions on this subject; Gains the skills and competence to develop solutions to current problems at national, regional and international levels,
6With the knowledge gained in the field; gain the skills and competence to research and analyze these issues, to express themselves on these issues, to communicate, to make academically original studies, to write and to present.

Course Contents
In this lesson; The causes and consequences of climate change and the problems it poses in terms of international law, international regulations such as the Stockholm and Rio Declaration before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, tools for combating it, the approach after the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement prepared to eliminate the shortcomings of the Kyoto Protocol, Issues of responsibility of states for their actions contrary to international law will be emphasized. In this context, the course will evaluate whether states can be held responsible for their actions that cause climate change and how this mechanism can be operated within the scope of the UNFCCC.
