The aim of this course is provide students with vocabulary teaching strategies, methods and techniques and an overview of vocabulary teaching.

Course Contents
Language-thought relation, thought-word relation, importance of vocabulary teaching and vocabulary. Word frequency and creating a list of words to be taught. Determination of vocabulary elements in teaching Turkish as a mother tongue and a foreign language. Basic concepts of vocabulary teaching, vocabulary, elements of vocabulary, passive and active vocabulary, word teaching strategies, formal knowledge awareness vocabulary relation, collocation and frequency studies, lexicology studies, pedagogical dictionaries, monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.
