Objectives of the Course
In this course, students will be taught the understanding of urban identities and the importance of the city in social movements and the forms of participation that emerged in the city in the historical process. At the end of the course, it is aimed to create an awareness and sensitivity in students about the right to participate and the use of this right.

Learning Outcomes
1Having knowledge about the conceptual and theoretical framework of the subjects in the lesson content
2Seeing and interpreting the legal, administrative and political changes in the organization of the city and urban spaces depending on the historical process
3To be able to analyze the relationship between urban space, social life and urban culture and being able to see the mutual interactions.
4To be able to comprehend different identities depending on urban culture and living space
5To be able to understand the effects of migration to the city on the urban economy and socio-cultural structure
6Monitoring and interpreting the social projections of squatting, urban transformation or renewal policies
7Understanding the relationship between the rights of citizens, participation, urban culture and urban movements and having knowledge about the laws and administrative approach on this issue
8Wining and developing research, self-expression, presentation, communication and academic writing skills in the field.

Course Contents
In this course, the history of the city, urban identities, the relationship between the city and social transformation, the changes and labor movements the city has experienced in the industrial process, environmentalist and green movements, women's movements, and class movements in the city will be discussed. In addition, the right to the city, the right to participate, the right to information, the right to environment, ecological movements and so on. concepts will be emphasized.
