Objectives of the Course
To make teacher candidates understand the characteristics of the child's physical, mental and language development; To recognize, examine and evaluate children's books prepared according to the child's developmental level.

1Understands the mental, physical and emotional characteristics of the child according to age groups.
2Understands the development of world and Turkish children's literature.
3Understands the characteristics that children's literature products should have according to age groups.
4Knows the traditional types of children's literature (fairy tales, fables, legends, epics, poems, lullabies, nursery rhymes, riddles) and modern (fantastic stories, science fiction).

Course Contents
Mental, physical, affective and language development characteristics of children according to age groups. Historical development of children's literature in the world and in Turkey. The importance of works created for children in terms of children's development. Examining the characteristics (design, content and educational) that children's literature works should have with examples. National and universal. Studies aimed at determining the suitability of the books read and examined by teacher candidates for children according to their age groups and which developments they will contribute to the children. Determining the contributions of various literary genres (epic, fairy tale, poem, story, novel, etc.) and linguistic materials (magic, rhyme, riddle, etc.) addressed to children to the development of children.
