Objectives of the Course |
Secularization and religion is a course designed for undergraduate students under philosophy and religious studies.
The course aims to learn basic subjects such as classical and contemporary theories of secularization, sub-titles and basic concepts of secularization, and to provide the student with theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge about these subjects. |

Our Expectations from Our Participating Friends:
Lecture, discussion and case study method will be used in the teaching of the course. Attendance at the lecture and participation in the discussion is mandatory. Coming to class by reading the given texts is the minimum requirement for a meaningful dialogue environment.
Our classes will be held with the participation and discussion of the friends who attend. A one-page, bibliographical article is expected during the visa week by choosing at least one topic from the specified topics. For the final week, an article between 3-5 pages will be prepared. These two texts will affect midterm and final grades. In case of continuing the face-to-face training, it is expected to make a presentation on the subjects for which homework is taken, not exceeding 10 minutes. |
Course Contents |
During the semester, students will be a part of the process by examining the lives and theories of the main theorists, gaining a sociological thinking perspective, reading articles on the basic ideas of secularization and religion. Thus, students will have the opportunity to lay solid academic foundations in a sociological context. |
