Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course; To provide students with sufficient knowledge and skills in geriatric nursing. In addition, defining the theory and concepts of aging, problems related to the process, physiological and psychological changes, learning appropriate nursing interventions, explaining the legal and ethical dimensions in elderly care.

Learning Outcomes
1Will be able to define old age on the basis of aging theories. Will be able to define the elderly population in line with demographic trends and statistical data.
2Discuss the physiological aspects of aging that result in normal and pathological changes
3It can detect significant physical and mental health problems and their effects on the elderly and their families.
4Determine the main geriatric syndromes and their effects on the sick individual. Evaluate the problems of elderly individuals and their families at home, community, acute care institutions and private areas.
5Identify ethical and legal issues related to the care of the elderly person.
