Course Contents
Basic concepts: Aesthetics, beauty, art and architecture. Science of aesthetics and problem areas, aesthetic doctrines, environmental aesthetics, Gestalt theory in perception, aesthetics as an evaluation criterion in architecture, volumetric aesthetics in architecture, visual balance. Concepts related to form properties: Unit size, unity measure, proportion, rhythm, symmetry. Forming approaches: Thinking of form, visualization and abstract/concrete form, abstraction/concrete, creation of form, idea and concept development, starting from product features. Perceptual aesthetics, symbolic aesthetics, formal aesthetics. Demonstration with examples, project study, implementation and production.
