Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to learn family culture, to have knowledge about the family and the child in Turkish culture from the past until now, to examine the change of childhood experience in Turkish culture; to discuss about the relationship between the child and the community within socio-cultural context. Furthermore, this course aims to provide a critical point of view for early childhood educators on how to conceptualize childhood.

Definition of culture; relationship between education and culture; the place of culture in child development and education; Development and characteristics of Turkish culture; Children in Turkish culture; The place and the value of the child in Turkish society and family, the education of children in Turkish culture from the past to the present, their properties and elements will be covered.
