| Level of Course Unit | First Cycle | Objectives of the Course | This course is a workshop course in creative writing, both fiction and non-fiction. By fiction, a wide variety of genres are denoted like poetry, short story, play, flash fiction, etc. Non-fiction, on the other hand, refers to prose works like personal essays, memoirs, profiles, nature and travel writing, literary journalism, etc. The adjective “creative” here needs to be clarified. If a text is creatively written, its sole objective is beyond informing the reader. Rather, it tries to interest readers, to instruct them, to entertain them, to persuade them, to influence them, to make them consider a particular point of view, etc. Creative writing is also about creating images in reader’s mind. Creative writing is not necessarily expressive, it may be communicative as well. The course involves both exposure and practice, which means the students will read widely among a variety of genres and also they will practice. By reading and practicing, you will learn fiction techniques that professional writers employ in their writing to write your own. | Name of Lecturer(s) | | Learning Outcomes | 1 | The students who succeeded in this course explore language as a material, to appreciate its role in shaping the world. | 2 | The students who succeeded in this course explore professional writers’ works to learn more about their technique. | 3 | The students who succeeded in this course overcome any kind of inhibition that prevents us from writing. | 4 | The students who succeeded in this course expand and refine vocabulary and style resources. | 5 | The students who succeeded in this course develop better editing skills with respect to punctuation, expression, textual organization and argumentation. |
