Objectives of the Course
Iconographic analysis and iconological interpretation is an analysis method developed by Erwin Panofsky. This method, which is used especially in figurative and themed works of art, still maintains its validity. Within the scope of this course, how to use iconographic analysis and iconological interpretation method in works is explained. In addition, Old and New Testament stories are presented, which is the reason for Bedrettin Cömert's placement of this method in Turkish art history studies. To be able to define the subjects in figurative expressive works of art, which cover a wide area from daily life to sacred books and mythology, based on the method of iconographic analysis and iconological interpretation. Explanation of Christianity and Islam iconography based on primary sources. To provide the student with the ability to make determinations on these subjects in a healthy way through works of art.

Course Contents
Mythological stories from all parts of the world are handled and their differences are determined according to cultural structures. By using the iconographic method, text, movies and theater plays are associated and analyzed with mythical schemes. Students make presentations by analyzing the myths of a chosen culture. They analyze movies and games using Campbell's The Hero's Journey and Jung's theories about archetypes.
