Objectives of the Course
To introduce students to the subject, methods and concepts of sociology, enable them to analyze social events from a sociological perspective, teach the basic concepts of sociology (society, culture, role, class, etc.) and the relationships between these concepts, provide information about the historical development process of sociology and important sociological thinkers, introduce the sub-branches of sociology, develop a sociological perspective in students to analyze and interpret social events, gain a critical perspective on social changes and developments, teach the contributions of sociology to understanding people and societies.

1To have a basic knowledge of the subject, methods, and basic concepts of sociology.
2Ability to analyze social events and processes from a sociological perspective by learning sociological perspective and sociological thinking.

Course Contents
In this course, the subject, importance and historical development of sociology; definition of basic sociological concepts (society, role, institutions, class, gender, status, etc.); sub-branches of sociology; social institutions such as family, religion, education, economy; socialization and individualization processes in society; globalization process and its effects; Basic issues of sociology, such as sociology's view of humans and society, are addressed.
