Objectives of the Course
This course aims at familiarising students with phonetics and phonology as sub-disciplines of linguistics. The basic issues in Turkish phonology will be taught. Sound inventory of Turkish, speech organs, the point and manner of articulation, phonological processes, phonotactics, air stream mechanisms in natural languages, stress and intonation will be discussed.
