Objectives of the Course
1. Identify effective pedagogical strategies for active engaged learning in the classroom. 2. Reflect on the level of technology that best supports teaching in particular content areas. 3. Identify and analyze legal and ethical issues. 4. Reflect on educational reforms on the local and national levels. 5. Research and debate traditional versus alternative licensure standards 6. Debate professional demeanor, dress, values, attitudes of a teacher in relation to his/her role in the classroom and community. 7. Research diversity and social problems in student populations and classroom implications and effects on teaching. 8. Research the history of Turkish education and the effects of history that have been carried forward today in our schools.

Course Contents
1. Understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, structure of the disciplines taught; creates learning experiences to make them meaningful to students. 2. Understands how children learn and develop; provides learning opportunities that support their development. 3. Understands how students differ in their approaches to learning; creates instructional opportunities adapted to diverse learners. 4. Understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies. 5. Creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. 6. Uses knowledge of communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction. 7. Plans instruction based on knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
