Objectives of the Course
To raise individuals who can use their voices in accordance with their technique and have a wide repertoire in the fields of Classical Turkish music, Traditional Turkish folk music and Western music.To provide individuals with basic theoretical knowledge in the fields of Classical Turkish music, Traditional Turkish folk music and Western music, as well as a certain amount of repertoire repertoire and vocal techniques.

Learning Outcomes
1To provide individuals with theoretical information about the sound system of Turkish music and the concept of interval in Turkish music.
2To raise individuals who have a distinguished musical repertoire consisting of various forms of Classical Turkish music.
3To train individuals who can use their voices technically correctly in classical Turkish music performances.
4To train individuals who can correctly perform Classical Turkish music works composed in various makam scales, with their rhythms and lyrics.

Musical hearing, reading and writing.
Recommended Optional Programme Components
It is recommended to do various vocal exercises with students before performing vocalization studies on musical works.
Course Contents
Week 1: Turkish music sound system and Turkish music interval concept Week 2: Special quintets and quartets that are used to create makam scales in Turkish music. Week 3: Usûl/measure concept and simple methods. Week 4: The concept of makam in Turkish music and introduction to simple makams. Week 5: Musical reading (Solfeggio/Bona) and writing. Week 6: Examining the Rast makam sequence from a theoretical perspective. Performing solfeggio exercises on works composed in the Rast maqam. Week 7: Midterm exam. Week 8: Examining the Buselik maqam sequence from a theoretical perspective and doing a solfeggio study on the works composed in the Buselik maqam. Week 9: Examining the Kürdi maqam sequence from a theoretical perspective and doing a solfeggio study on the works composed in the kürdi maqam. Week 10: Examining the Uşşak and Hüseyni maqam sequences from a theoretical perspective and doing solfeggio work on the works composed in these maqams. Week 11: Performing navigation exercises in these makam scales, taking into account the general characteristics of the learned makam scales. Week 12: Performing hearing, dictation and sight-reading exercises to gain the skills of distinguishing the learned maqam sequences from each other. Week 13: General review of theoretical and practical information learned throughout the semester. Week 14: Finals exam.

3- Usul/measure concept and simple patterns in Turkish music.- Demonstration and practice of simple rhythmic beats of Turkish music. - Performing solfeggio exercises on various melodic exercises including simple rhythmic strokes.
4- The concept of makam and simple makams in Turkish music.- Performing various exercises and solfeggio exercises in simple makam scales of Turkish music.
5- Musical reading (Solfeggio/Bona) and writing
6- Examining the Rast makam sequence from a theoretical perspective.- Performing solfeggio exercises on works composed in the Rast maqam.
