Objectives of the Course
This course covers the basics of mental health psychiatric nursing, community-based mental health psychiatric nursing, therapeutic approaches in psychiatric nursing, psychosocial nursing practices in non-psychiatric settings, and psychobiological disorders in line with the Standards of Practice for Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing. In this context, it teaches students to gain the ability to collect data about individuals, families and groups, to diagnose, to plan, implement and evaluate the results of nursing interventions that improve mental health, prevent and cure mental diseases, through the "Nursing Process", which is a systematic problem solving method.

Learning Outcomes
1Defining the basic concepts of human, normal and abnormal behavior patterns, factors affecting behaviors, meanings of behaviors with biopsychosocial dimensions.
2Defining the purpose, philosophy, functions, standards and historical development process of Mental Health and Diseases Nursing
3Discussing the importance of the family in terms of improving, preventing, protecting, improving and rehabilitating the mental health of individuals living in the community.
4Establishing interdisciplinary cooperation for individuals, families and groups who have mental problems in the society and need professional support.
5Using nursing skills for therapeutic approaches in the care of individuals with mental disorders and urgent psychiatric problems
6Feeling ready for psychiatric nursing practices by coming prepared for laboratory practices.
7Recognizing the roles and responsibilities of the nurse in the therapeutic environment and feeling an active sense of responsibility in the field of practice.
8Consultation – Discussing the functions and working areas of Liaison Psychiatric Nursing, the roles and responsibilities of the nurse in the team
9Be aware of the legal and ethical issues/problems that are important in the field of psychiatry, and exhibit behavior in accordance with ethical principles in their practices.
10Using the systematic approach when caring for individuals, families and groups
