Objectives of the Course
To provide the students with the principles of thermodynamics. To provide the students with types of energy, conversion of energy & the characteristics of the pure material. To provide the students with the knowledge of thermodynamic systems & the phase change. To provide the sudents with the knowledge of the first & second laws of thermodynamics & to promote them to apply laws of thermodynamics to engineering problems.

1To learn the basic concepts of thermodynamics
2To learn the application areas of thermodynamics
3To learn the application of thermodynamic laws to the process
4To learn demostration of properties of pure substances by using phase diagrams and property tables
5To learn the required conditions for ideal gas state and to use ideal gas equations
6To demonstrate the application on processes by learning energy transfer with heat, mass and work. To derive equations for given processes
7To learn the application of the first law of thermodynamcs on closed and open systems
8To learn the application of the second law of thermodynamcs with processes and cycles
9To learn the definition of entropy and applying it to processes and cycles with increase of entropy principle
10To examine efficiency of power and refrigeration cycles in terms of thermodynamics

Principles of thermodynamics, pure matter & its characteristics, steam tables, gases & gas laws, equations of state for real gases, First Law of Thermodynamics & its application to open & closed systems,Second Law of Thermodynamics & its application to open & closed systems, the heat engine, the heat pumu, generation of entropy.
