Objectives of the Course
The purpose of this course is to have students grasp the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the Turkish Independence War, the Lausanne Peace Treaty, the importance of the new Turkish state.

Learning Outcomes
1Definition of revolution and the reasons of Turkish Revolution, modernization efforts in the Otoman Empire, Tripoli (Trablusgarp), Balkan (I-II) Wars, World War I and the collapse of Otoman Empire,
2 World War I and the collapse of Otoman Empire, Mondros Armistice and the occupation of Smyrna, Mustafa Kemal Paşa’s leaving from İstanbul to Samsun and the initation of National Struggle,
3from Samsun to Ankara and the studies (congresses) conducted to this end, the opening of Turkish Grand National Assembly and the foundation of the new Turkish State, the revolts against to the Turkish Grant National Assembly, Sevres Treaty and reactions to this agreement,
4the fronts of Turkish Independence War and the battles of East and South front with Armenians and France
5the battles of West front in the National Struggle and Grand Triumph, the end of Turkish-Greek War, Mudanya Armistice and its results, Lausanne Peace Treaty and the recognization of new Turkish State by the World.
