Objectives of the Course
To introduce the classical theories of sociology by discussing certain theorists whose works have shaped the discipline and to discuss the effects of them on the development of the discipline itself.

1Students can define the main issues of classical sociological theory.
2They explain the different approaches within sociological theory and the criticisms of these approaches.

5They can critique how the theories of classical sociologists contribute to and influence the discipline.

Course Contents
The course introduces classical theories of sociology. The main approaches in the discipline are examined through the discussion of the names like Saint-Simon, Alexis De Tacquaville, Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber.
