Objectives of the Course
This course aims to: - Enable students (Ss) to master English and Turkish sounds; recognise phonemes/sounds in different environments in lexical items; attain proficiency in comparing and contrasting English and Turkish phonemes with each other. - Introduce further concepts such as diphthong, triphthong, stress, intonation, assimilation and pausing.

Course Contents
In this course, students learn the English sound system by comparing and contrasting it to the Turkish sound system, they practice them at lexical, sentence and discourse level; they listen to various listening passages and involve in related activities.
