Objectives of the Course
In this course, the languages of texts belonging to Buddhist and Manichean Turkic circles are introduced. Works belonging to these literary circles are examined practically. The first Turkic poems, which are manuscript texts from the Old Uyghur period, are related to law, religion, literature, etc. documents on the subject (Kuanşi im Pusar, Ayıg Ögli Tegin, Edgü Ögli Tegin, Turfan Metinleri, etc.) are examined. Grammar analysis of these works is carried out in terms of sound, form and meaning. The aim of this course is to introduce the student to the linguistic features and corpus of works of the Buddhist and Manichaean Turkic environment from the pre-Islamic periods of Turkic.
