1To analyse the poems of first and second generation of Tanzimat period men of letters.
2To know the political and cultural structure of Tanzimat period.
3To familiarize the development of Turkish literature.
4To be equipped in the point of making an intensive study on this subject.
5To know the history of modernization of Turkish literature.

Course Contents
Tanzimat period and modernization movements, consisting of European literature, first authors of modernization, Şinasi, Ziya Paşa and Namık Kemal School (their understanding of art, personalities and their work of arts; their specialities of form, language and style), development of literary kinds (translations, journalism, poem, short story and novel, drama, literary criticism, literature historiography etc.)
