Objectives of the Course

To be able to convey the general political situation of Iran and Central Asia after the Ilkhanids. To give information about the contribution of Timurlular State to Turkish history and its activities, and to explain the effects of the Timurid Renaissance on the history of Turkish Culture.

1	To be able to comprehend the situation of the Chagatai Khanate in the 14.th century.
2	To be able to analyse of the Timur’s campaigns.
3	To be able to explain developments of the post Timur.
4	To be able to explain the mind of “sovereignty” in the Timurid state.
5	To be able to compare military, social and economical structure of the Timurid state with other Turkic states.
6	To be able define the relation of stat-religion in the Timurid state.

Course Contents

Considers the political situation of Anatolia, Azarbayjan, İran and Horosan after the disintegration of Ilkhanid state. This course will also examine the rise and fall of Timuruds state, its place in the world history, Timur’s campaignes, Timurids-Ottoman Relations, the battle of Ankara and aftermath.

6	Political struggles of Timur-Toktamış and their results,

9	Evaluation of Timur’s campaigns, new situation of the State after his death,
10	Political sovereignty struggles in Maveraünnehir, Horasan, Azerbaycan, South Iran and its results,
11	Political activities of Şahruh Khan Period,
12	Political and cultural activities of Ulug Bey,
13	Political activities of Baykara Khan Period, general information about Ali Şir Nevai and decline of the Timurids State,
14	Social and administrative structure of the Timurids State, its historical role in the Turkish history,
15	General oveerview,
16	The Final Exam.
