Objectives of the Course |
This course aims to analyze the main social dynamics, main conflict axes, historical continuities and ruptures and main problem areas of Turkish politics from a theoretical and historical perspective, from the 19th century Ottoman Empire, when the modernization process began, to the present day. |

Course Contents |
The "Turkish Political Life" course covers a historical period from the 19th century Ottoman Empire to the present. The structure and content of the course focuses on analytically examining the formation of the modern political power field in Ottoman and Turkish societies in the periods in question, through class, gender, socio-cultural identities, oriented power relations, ideologies and practices, and social and political movements. . The lesson plan and readings are aimed at discussing different theoretical approaches as well as historical-empirical analyzes to understand socio-political power relations in Turkey. |
