Providing students knowledge and skills about the characteristics of individuals who are diagnosed with developmental disabilities and educational services to be provided to these individuals

1 Will be able to describe the basic concepts of special education and related to general procedure of special education.
2Will be able to describe the roles and responsibilities for special education personnel. Will be able to debate the laws and regulations about special education.

Course Contents
Basic concepts related to special education; the principles and historical development of special education; legal regulations on special education; diagnosis and evaluation in special education; individualization of teaching; mainstreaming and support special education services; family participation in education and cooperation with the family; characteristics of different disability and ability groups; educational approaches and teaching strategies for different groups; effective strategies in class management and behavior management.
