Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is, to provide students to be able to interpret pharmacology and drugs; to express OTS and prescription drugs in Turkey; to interpret basic pharmacology subjects such as pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, drug mechanism of actions, drug interactions, drug administration routes, pharmacogenetic and drug therapy; to classify antibiotics, antifungal and antiviral drugs; to define central nerve system (CNS) and disorders related to CNS; to classify general and local anaesthetic drugs, CNS stimulants, drugs that are used in pain and alcoholism; to interpret and classify antipsychotics, antiepileptic drugs, antidepressant drugs, sedative hypnotic drugs, anxiolytics and the drugs used in parkinson diseaseand dementia ¸to classify renal, gastrointestinal and respiratory system disorders and the drugs used in these disorders; to interpret tobacco harms and the treatment of tobacco use disorder.

Course Contents
1. Pharmacology and drugs, history of the drugs, drug marketing authorization in Turkey. 2. Pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, mechanisms of basic drug interactions and drug mechanism of actions. 3. Pharmacogenomics and individualized therapy. 4. Management of drug therapy, drug administration routes and factors affecting drug actions. 5. Basic principles of antibacterial therapy and important antibacterial drugs. 6. Antiviral and antifungal drugs. 7. Basic principles of CNS. 8. General and local anaesthetic drugs 9. Pain and pain management ( Opioids). 10. Depression, psychosis, anxiety, sleep disorders, epilepsia, Parkinson and dementia and the drugs used in these disorders. 11. CNS stimulants. 12. Drugs that are used in alcoholism and tobacco harms and the treatment of tobacco use disorder. 13. Drugs used in respiratory system disorders 14. Drugs used in gastrointestinal system disorders. 15. Drugs used in renal system disorders.
