Course Contents
Definition, scope, development and history of microbiology. Origin of microorganisms, Endosymbiosis and other theories. Classification and Structure of Microorganisms, Prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms. Structure and physiology of bacteria, Environments where microorganisms are produced, Substances required for nutrition and reproduction of microorganisms, Environmental factors affecting the reproduction of microorganisms, Enzymes and metabolism of microorganisms, Bacterial genetics, Antimicrobial substances, Resistance to antimicrobial substances, Resistance mechanisms to antimicrobial substances, Sterilization, Disinfection and application Methods, Structure of Viruses, Viroids, Prions, Differences between bacteria and viruses, Important virus types, shapes and general structures (AIDS and hepatitisB virus), fight against viral diseases.
