Objectives of the Course |
This course aims to provide general information about the issues covered by Constitutional Law and specifically to discuss Turkish constitutional developments within a weekly plan. Topics such as the concept of constitution, types of constitutions, the process of making constitutions, the legal structure of state organization, legislative, executive and judicial powers and the relations between them, citizens' rights and freedoms, election systems, political parties and constitutional judiciary are within the scope of the course. In addition, Turkish constitutional developments in the historical process from the last period of the Ottoman Empire to the present day, and especially the 1982 constitution that is implemented today, will be discussed in detail. |

Course Contents |
At the end of the course, it is aimed for students to become familiar with the process of making constitutions and the basic concepts of constitutional law and to have a conceptual repertoire in which they can make further readings in this field. At the end of the semester, students who successfully complete the course are expected to have an idea about the general process of Turkish constitutional developments, especially the 1921-1924-1961-1982 constitutions, and how these constitutions affected each other. |
