Objectives of the Course
To comprehend the historical background of the establishment process of the Republic of Turkey, the modernization efforts in the late Ottoman period, the National Struggle period, and the reforms carried out in line with Atatürk's principles; and to gain independence awareness and historical thinking skills for students.

1Can define the concept of revolution and related concepts. Can explain the factors that were effective in the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.
2Can explain the reform movements and wars that took place in the last period of the Ottoman Empire.

4Can interpret World War I with its causes and consequences.
5It can explain the developments in the military phase of the War of Independence.

Purpose and conceptual framework of Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution, reasons for the stagnation and decline of the Ottoman Empire, Tanzimat and Constitutional periods, World War I and the situation of the Ottoman Empire, Armistice of Mudros, occupations and reactions, Mustafa Kemal Pasha's passage to Anatolia, congresses period, opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, fronts of the National Struggle, Armistice of Mudanya, and Treaty of Lausanne.
