Course Contents
The transition to the Modernist period and the process from Modernism to the present, including works of contemporary Turkish painting and commentary on the artists in this field.

2Fundamental concepts and the historical context of contemporary Turkish painting.
3The modernization process in Turkish painting at the beginning of the 20th century. Post-Ottoman painters and Western influence.
4The emergence of Turkish painting in the Republican era. Artists: İbrahim Çallı, Feyhaman Duran, Hikmet Onat. Analysis of sample artworks.
5Academic and Social Themes in Turkish Painting between 1930-1950. Workshop: Applications of small paintings with period themes.
6The beginning of abstract and figurative movements after 1950. Artists: Abidin Dino, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. 1960-1970: Abstract painting and Anatolian motifs.
71970-1980: Conceptual and experimental approaches to painting. Examples of group and individual exhibitions.
8Mid-term exam.
91980-1990: International influences in contemporary Turkish painting. Artists: Burhan Doğançay, Nuri İyem. Post-1990: New media and experimental approaches in painting. Workshop: Digital or mixed media applications.
10Thematic discussion: Reflections of identity, culture, and space in contemporary Turkish painting. Discussion and critique of student works.
11Expressions of individual and social issues in art. Analysis of a sample artwork and group discussion.
12International exhibitions and achievements of contemporary Turkish painters. Workshop: Students developing their own concepts.
13Presentation of student works and workshop evaluation. Discussions on the form, content, and conceptual suitability of the works.
14Presentation of student personal exhibitions. General evaluation, analysis, and critical comments.
